Jon Palmer and Wendy Ross are headlining the Alston House Stage on Saturday Afternoon. Also appearing are Phil Graham and The Lounge Lizards. Jon and Wendy are both part of the critically acclaimed 5 piece folk/rock group the Jon Palmer Acoustic Band regularly playing festivals and venues across the North of England, where they have a strong and growing reputation as an energetic live act. The band’s most recent album, “One Fine Day” has received outstanding reviews.
Together as a duo they are musically a stripped back version of the full band. Jon’s songs, pretty much just as they were written with voice and guitar, and Wendy adding expert violin and second vocal.
Jon is a former winner of the Grolsch UK Songwriter of the Year Award and is a published songwriter. Wendy is an experienced and versatile violinist who also performs and tours with folk/rock legends, Magna Carta.
Mike Harding describes Jon as a ‘Great songwriter… absolutely wonderful’ and Living Tradition said of Jon’s latest album: ‘One Fine Day fully justifies the oft-invoked comparisons with hallowed acts such as Lindisfarne, The Waterboys, Merry Hell, The Saw Doctors and The Pogues’.
