Friday’s events take place around the town and Saturday’s events are in St. Augustin’s Church at lunchtime and on Tyne Willows Field on Saturday afternoon and evening.
By road, Alston can be reached from the M6 at Penrith via the A689 and from Carlisle or Newcastle via the A69 and the A686. From Scotch Corner on the A1M, the route to Alston is via Barnard Castle and the B6277, passing through beautiful Upper Teesdale. There are limited bus services to Alston, please visit Westmorland and Furness Council’s website for bus timetables. The nearest railway stations are:
- Penrith North Lakes (West Coast mainline)
- Langwathby (Settle Carlisle line)
- Haltwhistle (Carlisle to Newcastle line)
The C2C cycle route comes through Alston and includes the exhilerating ride over Hartside Pass when coming from the West.
